Apple today updated Apple Maps data to add Flyover location support of key points of interests and landmarks in multiple countries in Europe, along with Japan and Mexico.
Flyover allows Apple Maps users to view a 3D imagery of a popular location in specific country or area. Users can zoom in/out, pan around, and rotate their way to get an in-depth look at the landmark right from their iPhone or iPad.
The list of new places that gain support for Flyover are as follows:
- Angers, France
- Carcassonne, France
- Florence, Italy
- Genoa, Italy
- Pavia, Italy
- Stuttgart, Germany
- Mannheim, Germany
- Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany
- Mexicali, Mexico
- Murcia, Spain
- Nagasaki, Japan
- Shizouka, Japan
Slowly but steadily, Apple has been working on improving Apple Maps since it first launched the service back in 2012 to terrible user reception. In iOS 9, Apple added transit directions to Apple Maps, and it is also working on bringing Street view like feature to its mapping service.
