The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been on sale for barely a blink of an eye, but Apple has gone ahead and updated their “Other Repair” section of the website to reflect out-of-warranty pricing if you need a repair.
The out-of-warranty costs for the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus have been added to Apple’s warranty/repair section of their website, following the launch of the two new flagship handsets. As is par for the course, the pricing is set between three different areas: screen replacement, battery service and general repairs.
The screen replacement is generally cheaper than the overall repairs, with every model, excluding the iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6, costing $129.
- iPhone 6s Plus: $149
- iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5: $129
- iPhone 6: $109
As you can see, Apple has increased the screen repair costs by $20 for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
As far as general repair pricing goes, it will cost $329 for the iPhone 6s Plus, and $299 for out-of-warranty repairs for the iPhone 6s. Apple hasn’t increased the out-of-warranty costs for general repairs.
- iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6 Plus: $329
- iPhone 6s, iPhone 6: $299
- iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5: $269
- iPhone 4s: $199
- iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G: $149
Apple had increased the prices of AppleCare+ for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus from $99.99 to $129.99, and also increased the service fee from $79.99 to $99.99. It does look like the main reason for increasing the AppleCare+ prices was to account for the increase in the screen repair costs, probably because of 3D Touch.
The cost of out-of-warranty battery service is still $79 for all iPhone models.
If you haven’t bought AppleCare+ or any other insurance for your new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, then you might want to consider using a case to avoid the high repair costs. Though Apple does claim that the new glass on the iPhone 6s is “made using a special dual-ion exchange process, which makes it stronger at a molecular level and the most durable in the smartphone industry.”
