In July of last year, another class-action lawsuit was brought against Apple, this time focused on the replacement devices the company uses for AppleCare+ service requests.
Now, several months later, a decision has been made this week, as reported by Ars Technica. The judge has rejected the class-action lawsuit, with the judge making some bold statements along the way. That includes calling the plaintiff’s lawyer “manifestly incompetent.”
The judge actually goes further, as articulated in the initial report, stating that the lawyer actually orchestrated the entire ordeal. Specifically, the judge states that the lawyer encouraged the plaintiffs to purchase the necessary AppleCare plans and then record the interactions thereafter, all for the explicit idea of the class-action lawsuit.
However, it’s not quite over. While the judge has rejected the class-action status of the case, it will more than likely move forward without that designation. Whatever happens with it next, considering it could impact the devices/parts that Apple uses in its future AppleCare replacements, we’ll certainly keep an eye on.
