Take a quick glance at the weather forecast with Freyr [Jailbreak tweak]

freyr
Are you looking for a way to quickly take a look at the current weather forecast without launching the Weather app? If so, you should check out an amazing new jailbreak tweak known as Freyr by iOS developers Phillip Tennen & Milo Darling.
Freyr allows you to take a quick glance at the current weather forecast by swiping down the Weather app icon on the Home screen. Doing so extends a new tray downwards from the app icon displaying between 1 – 6 weather forecasts of your current location. To close the tray, all you have to do is to swipe up the Weather icon and you’re good to go.
Since Freyr displays the weather forecast of your current location, it will only work when Location Services is enabled for the Weather app. It doesn’t fetch any information when Location Services is disabled hence the tray will appear blank when you swipe down on the Weather icon.
Freyr also provides a range of customization options available in the tweak’s preferences pane. From there, you can enable or disable it via the kill switch toggle, switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius readings and select the blur style of the tray.

You can also choose the number of weather forecasts to be displayed in the tray, ranging between 1 to 6 forecasts, as well as select whether you want the tweak to display the hourly or the daily weather forecasts. Once done, no respring is required as the changes will be applied right away.
Freyr brings an interesting concept to iOS 8 and the developers could use the same concept for other apps as well. Keep in mind that you need to keep Location Services for the Weather app enabled in order for the tweak to display the weather forecast otherwise the tray will appear blank.
If you’re in to give this tweak a try, Freyr is available on Cydia’s BigBoss repo for $0.99. Let us know what you think about the tweak once you’ve given it a try.
