SwipeSelection is one of the most popular tweaks, and one of the main reasons why many people jailbreak their iOS device. The tweak also inspired Apple to introduce its functionality in iOS 9.
SwipeSelection allows users to swipe anywhere on the keyboard to move the cursor to a specific location. If you’re a long time user of the tweak, you might be aware of an annoying bug where it doesn’t work well with text boxes in Safari such as the search bar within web pages.
The problem has been around for a long time but since the tweak is open sourced, a developer has fixed the Safari bug and has uploaded the modified version of SwipeSelection with the fix to Cydia. So you can control the cursor a lot better inside Safari. However, you still can’t use SwipeSelection to select text in text boxes. If you’d like to install the modified version on your device, you’ll have to add the following new source to Cydia first: http://pw5a29.github.io/. Once done, simply open the source and look for SwipeSelection. Note that if you already have the original version of SwipeSelection installed, it will be removed automatically before installing the modified version.
Kyle Howells, the original developer of SwipeSelection, mentions on reddit that it would have been better if the modified version had a different name rather than adopting the original one to avoid confusions. He also states that an update to the original tweak will be released in the coming week which might fix the Safari issue as well.
If you haven’t tried SwipeSelection yet, we definitely recommend that you head to Cydia now and install it. It will surely save you a lot of time.
