Tim Cook to announce Apple education program for public schools today

Tim Cook on Good Morning America
Tim Cook will announce a new Apple education program for public schools today during an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America, according to a new report. The program hopes to “end America’s public schools’ digital divide.”
Apple has long been a big supporter of education initiatives; it already participates in the White House’s ConnectED program, and has issued grants that support education programs using technology at more than 100 schools throughout the United States.
“Apple detailed its involvement in the initiative last fall including how it uses Macs, iPads, and Apple TVs in chosen schools as part of a $100 million commitment to the classroom,” notes 9to5Mac. “Apple’s Lisa Jackson heads the company’s participation in ConnectED as part of her VP of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives role at the company.”
Cook can be seen speaking with Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts in the promotional shots above. His exclusive interview is set to air on this morning’s show, which starts at 7 a.m. ET.
