The new iPhones feature Apple’s latest A9 chipset that the company claims is 70% faster than the A8 chipset found inside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. When combined with 2GB of RAM, the new iPhones should easily blow away previous iPhones and even the iPad Air 2 — the fastest iOS device released by Apple so far — in terms of performance.
While benchmark scores of the new iPhones do indicate that they are a beast, how much of this translates into a real life performance advantage? YouTube channel Mad Matt TV compared the speed difference between iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus in booting up and launching different apps to find out.
While iPhone 6s Plus launches most apps faster, the difference is so small that most users are unlikely to notice it. In certain cases, the iPhone 6 Plus did win a couple of tests, though there might be other factors in play here.
The difference between opening apps might be hardly noticeable between the two devices, but the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be better than their predecessors during multitasking, as the 2GB of RAM will ensure that they keep apps in their memory for longer.
The additional gig of RAM is not the only reason why you should upgrade to the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus though. The new iPhones feature a higher resolution 12MP camera that is also capable of recording 4K videos, 3D Touch, and are available in a new Rose Gold color.
