Apple today updated the data of its Maps app to add support for new Flyover locations and expand the Nearby feature in iOS 9 to other countries.
When launched earlier this year, the Nearby feature in iOS 9 was only available in China and the United States. From today though, Apple is expanding this feature to Australia, France, Canada, and Germany. Nearby feature in iOS 9 lists restaurants, food courts, cafés, shopping malls, and more that are located near you at any given point of time.
The new Flyover locations that Apple has added support for are as follows:
- Basel, Switzerland
- Bielefeld, Germany
- Gorge Du Verdon, France
- Hawaii (Big Island), US
- Hiroshima, Japan
- Kyoto, Japan
- Lassen Volcanic National Park, CA
- Leon, Spain
- Nagoya, Japan
- Okayama, Japan
- Osaka, Japan
- Porto, Portugal
- Prague, Czech Republic
- Sendai, Japan
- Tulum, Mexico
With the addition of the 15 locations mentioned above, Apple has added Flyover locations support to nearly 50 different locations and landmarks this year alone.
Do you use Apple Maps on your iPhone? Or are you still a Google Maps users?
