As many individuals know, getting a contract at a mobile carrier usually involves a credit check, in which the company gathers data from a company like Experian.
Unfortunately, a data breach at that particular credit reporting agency has resulted in the gathering of subscriber information, specifically from T-Mobile, as the carrier’s CEO, John Legere, has confirmed recently. According to an investigation of the breach, the information of 15 million individuals was gathered between September 1 of 2013, and September 16, 2015.
Within those millions of people, some of them were T-Mobile subscribers, which includes those who checked their credit when trying to get service, or with a device financing.
As far as what was stolen, that includes birthdays, names, and addresses. The information also includes encrypted information, which includes ID numbers found on driver’s licenses, as well as social security numbers. On top of that, Experian has also made it known that they believe it’s possible their encryption has been compromised as well.
Legere says that no bank information was found in the breach, though. The CEO says it will also review its relationship with Experian at a later date.
