Apple launched the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in India last month. If reports from distributors were anything to go by, the company expected a 2-3x increase in sales when compared to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
However, thanks to the exorbitant prices of the handset in the country, the sales of the new iPhones were lacklustre and not up to Apple’s expectations. Now, in a bid to boost the sales of the handset, Apple is offering a discount of up to Rs. 6,000 across all color and storage variants of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in India.
Apple is only offering the discount through online retailers like Amazon India andSnapdeal, and not through its official offline resellers and distributors in the country.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which were available for Rs. 62,000 and Rs. 72,000, are now available for Rs. 55,999 and Rs. 65,999, respectively. Other storage variants of the handset have also received a price cut of Rs. 6,000.
Online retailers usually offer a hefty discount on the iPhone a few months after its launch, but this time around, Apple itself is offering the discount within weeks of the handset going on sale probably in a bid to increase sales of the new iPhones in the country.
