In the world of digital personal assistants, Microsoft’s effort, Cortana, is one of the more powerful options, and it’s making its way to iOS.
At the beginning of November of this year, it was confirmed that Microsoft had opened up its beta signup process for iOS users that wanted to try out Cortana, the digital personal assistant currently working on Windows 10 and Windows Phone/Mobile devices. An Android release has already seen its beta come to light, with the iOS version waiting in the wings until now.
As confirmed by TechCrunch, Microsoft has begun accepting beta testers into the program, allowing some lucky iOS users to try out the digital personal assistant. The original report indicates that the beta tryout is happening through TestFlight, which means that the pool of beta testers is limited to only 2,000.
Cortana for iOS will be limited compared to its Windows-based variant, with Microsoft already confirming that the “Hey, Cortana” voice activation feature will not be available for iOS users. However, it should still be quite the functional personal assistant, especially for those that use iOS on their mobile device, but use Windows on their computer.
As far as a public release goes, Microsoft has not yet finalized a date just yet. However, the company has said in the past it will see the light of day before the end of 2015.
Were you lucky enough to get into the beta?
