Target has announced that Thanksgiving was its biggest online shopping day ever.
The record-breaking Thanksgiving was driven by three products: Apple’s iPad, Apple Watch and Nintendo Wii U.
The retailer also reported that they sold an iPad every second throughout the day on Thanksgiving. It was a popular item both online and in stores. The Apple Watch also sold very well for the retailer, especially in stores.
Target is offering some great deals on the iPad and Apple Watch for Black Friday. It is offering a gift card of up to $150 on the iPads and $100 gift card on any Apple Watch.
According to analysts at SunTrust Thanksgiving shopping was a bust this year based on in-person scan of activities at stores, which could also indicate that people were shopping online.
We believe Thanksgiving shopping was a bust. We note that traffic seemed below last year both on- and off-mall. Members of our team who went to the malls first had no problem finding parking or navigating stores. Crowds were tame and, with some exceptions there seemed to be more browsing than buying and less items purchased.
