The latest update to the Facebook app makes it easier than ever to share links with friends without having to jump between different apps. Simply tap the new link icon and search for the story you want to share right within the Facebook app.
Let’s say you read an interesting article, and you want to share it with a friend. The only problem is, you didn’t copy the link, and now you can’t remember where you read it. With Facebook’s new link sharing system, that’s no longer a problem.
Thanks to a built-in search tool, you can type in keywords to find the article you’re looking for, then share the story directly — without having to leave the Facebook app at all. Facebook says its archive already includes more than a trillion posts.
As noted by Recode, the new feature is designed to keep users inside the Facebook app.
If you don’t have to switch to another app to find a story, you’re more likely to spend more time inside Facebook, and “the longer you stay within the app and the more you share, the better it is for Facebook’s business.”The new link sharing feature is rolling out now to Facebook users on iOS, so expect to see it via an App Store update soon if you haven’t already. Facebook has also begun testing a new Snapchat-style photo uploader, which lets users add filters, stickers, and text to their images before publishing them.
