Before we provide you any solution to your Touch ID problem, just imagine what makes your Touch ID fail or when Touch ID fails to work.
Calibrating Fingerprint Properly
One of the first mistakes happens when you calibrate the fingerprint. Even though the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus sends you a message that your finger has been calibrated successfully, there are some chances that the calibration is not done perfectly.
When you calibrate, hold your iPhone as you’d normally hold. Don’t hold it “perfectly” because that’s not how you hold it during normal use. Then, calibrate the finger.
While calibrating, please ensure that you put your fingers in all possible positions including edges & tips of your fingers; all parts of your finger should be scanned. Also ensure that your finger touches the metal ring around the Home button. If you’re using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn’t cover the Home button or the surrounding ring. Well, if you have set your Touch ID with just one of your fingers, you may face a problem if that particular finger gets damaged and the upper layer of your finger has become rough for some time. Hence, it is always advisable that you set Touch ID with more than one fingers of yours.
One Finger, One Fingerprint
Obviously, this is not supposed to be a valid point but seeing that you can use multiple fingers under one fingerprint, I think this should be taken a tad too seriously. Make sure you only calibrate one finger for one fingerprint listing.
Keep the Phone Clean
Keeping the phone clean goes beyond wiping the home button when you use it. The problem with iPhones is that dust can get under the home button.
How to fix Touch ID Not Working Issue on iPhone 6/6+:
Step 1: Launch Settings.
Step 2: Scroll down to tap on Touch ID and Passcode. Enter your passcode.
Step 3: Toggle on iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store
Step 4: Tap on Add a Fingerprint… and try to add another finger as usual.
With the above steps Touch ID will start working properly.
