One of the common complains that I hear about iOS 8 is the obtrusive large volume HUD that appears on the screen while pressing the physical volume buttons on the side of iPhone. If you also think that the volume HUD is annoying, you should check out a new jailbreak tweak developed by CP Digital Darkroom known as VolumeBanner.
The tweak makes the volume HUD less obtrusive by displaying it as a banner at the top of your screen. Every time you adjust the volume of your iPhone, a transparent banner will pop up with a volume slider which you can use instead of the physical buttons to increase or decrease the volume.
What’s more interesting about VolumeBanner is that it is customizable and comes with three different banner styles which you can choose.Once you’ve installed the tweak, a new pane will be added to Settings where you can configure VolumeBanner. From there, you can enable or disable the tweak via the kill switch toggle, choose a banner style, configure the blur effect as well as customize the banner tint color.
If you don’t want the volume banner to appear at the top of the screen, the pane also provides a toggle to display the banner from the bottom of the screen. Once you’re done, simply press the volume buttons on the side of your iPhone to view the new volume HUD. The only issue I had while configuring the tweak is that it can sometimes crash your device after making the changes.
VolumeBanner will definitely appeal to users who find the stock volume HUD annoying. Although the tweak provides a less obtrusive volume HUD, StatusVol X is another jailbreak tweak that places the volume HUD in a more suitable location.
If you’re interested to check out VolumeBanner, it can be download for free via Cydia’sBigBoss repo. Sound off in the comments section below once you’ve given it a try.
