On Monday, September 21, Shazam updated its iOS app to version 9.0. It’s a pretty big update, thanks to support for iOS 9 and upcoming new iPhones.
With the update, which should be available now, Shazam users will be able to use the advanced search built into iOS 9 to simply by swiping down from their Home screen to bring up the search function, type in the artist or song they’re looking for, and the result will launch the Shazam app directly with the results already pulled up.
On top of that, Shazam is also adding support for 3D Touch, which is making its debut on an iPhone by way of the upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. With 3D Touch, users can firmly press on the Shazam app icon and a shortcut will pop up to let the user recognize a song that’s playing even faster than before.
The update also includes tweaks to the Bluetooth support, which should make playing a track, then Shazaming it, not get interrupted anymore once the song starts playing again. For Rdio and Spotify subscribers that were getting notices from Shazam that their subscription had changed, when it hadn’t, the update also rectifies this issue, too.
Shazam 9.0 is available now, and a link to the app is below.
