Apple is locking down walk-in sales for its upcoming iPhones in select areas, and now it’s looking like it might be even harder to find the newest smartphone from Apple as launch day nears.
As noted by 9to5Mac, Apple is currently sold out of its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus on its website, with the earliest scheduled shipping date now listed at September 29, four days after the iPhones go on sale on Friday, September 25. That’s still a relatively quick shipping date, considering the launch is only four days away, but bad news for anyone that wanted to pick it up on launch day, and was still holding out.
Apple hasn’t come forward on numbers just yet, but the company has, on two occasions painted a pretty bright picture. On September 14 the company announced that pre-orders were on track to beat last year’s milestone of 10 million units over the first weekend. And, just today, the company announced that it has seen an “incredibly positive” response to the new iPhones ahead of their launch.
This took a bit longer than some might have expected, especially considering there was an extra week between pre-orders going live on September 12, and sales kicking off on September 25. However, with that in mind, it’s possible that Apple had actually built up quite a bit of stock leading up to pre-orders getting the green light, so it may have simply taken longer simply because there were more phones to pre-order.
It’s worth noting that, as of this writing, the wireless carriers, including Verizon Wireless and AT&T, are still showing overnight shipping for many, if not most, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, with delivery scheduled for September 25.
Did you pre-order your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus?
