Elon Musk says Apple entering the electric car market will be ‘great’

2013-Tesla-Model-S
At Tesla’s Q1, 2015 earnings call earlier today, Elon Must said that he hopes Apple will enter the electric car market and it will be “great” if the company does.
Musk has made similar positive comments about Apple entering the electric car market in the past.
With regards to the apparent poaching war going on between the two companies, the CEO said that there is no such war going on between them. But if there was, Tesla was winning it as it has recruited “five times as many” people from Apple than the latter has done from Tesla.
“I certainly hope Apple gets into the car business. That would be great. But we’re not seeing any significant attrition of engineers to Apple, for anything. Cars or otherwise. Anyone can find this out by going on LinkedIn. If you look at the trailing 12 months, Tesla has recruited something like five times as many people from Apple as Apple has from Tesla.”
Musk had said earlier this year that Apple tries very had to recruit from Tesla, though they have been mainly unsuccessful in doing so.
Just like Apple disrupted the smartphone market with the launch of the original iPhone in 2007, Tesla has also done something similar with the launch of its Model S in 2013.
With reports indicating that Apple is looking to release its own electric car in 2020, which if true, will be interesting to see what impact it has on the market.
