Ever since word arose that there would be two movies based on Steve Jobs’s life released (the first of which starred Ashton Kutcher in the titular role, and has already been released), all eyes have been on the script penned by Aaron Sorkin an its future.
While it was reported back in March of this year that star Christian Bale (The Dark Knight Trilogy) had been tapped to take on the role of Steve Jobs in the biopic, that rumor eventually faded, and since then it’s been believed that Leonardo DiCaprio (Wolf of Wall Street, The Departed) would step in and take over. However, a new report published on October 2 by The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that DiCaprio has subsequently dropped out of the film project, due to his wrapping THE REVENANT soon and wanting to take a lengthy break afterwards.
However, in good news, the same report confirms that director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later) will be sitting in the director’s chair for the biopic that Aaron Sorkin wrote. In April it was confirmed that director David Fincher had dropped out of the project. Unfortunately, no official launch date has been confirmed as of yet.
Who do you think should play Steve Jobs in the biopic?
