Microsoft releases a fix for issues with Outlook on OS X El Capitan in Office for Mac 2011

Dating back to July, many Microsoft Office users running Apple’s OS X El Capitan have been noticing major issueswith compatibility. Office 2011 users were also susceptible to issues.
For the 2011 crowd, those issues were primarily focused on the Outlook email app while trying to use it with El Capitan. The issue was that many users simply couldn’t access their email from the app due to widespread syncing issues, which would therefore cause the app to hang indefinitely while trying to reach the servers.
Recently, Microsoft confirmed that it was working on a fix for Outlook 2011 users, and that update has finally arrived in update 14.5.6, which is rolling out now. This is an important release, considering that Microsoft’s former workaround to get Outlook working again was to downgrade to OS X Yosemite, which was obviously not a reasonable move for many users.
While this is a step in the right direction, there are still several issues with Office 2106 for Mac, where users trying to access any of those apps bundled in the software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, are faced with software crashing randomly, or even preventing the app(s) from opening at all. There is still no timeframe for when a patch to fix those issues will be released.
