The Skype app for iOS today received an update (v6.3) that adds support for new iOS 9 features on both devices, including Slide Over and Split View.
For iPhone users running iOS 9, the major new features present in this update are the ability to reply to messages from banner notifications, as well as directly from the lock screen.
To the delight of iPad owners, especially iPad Air 2, Microsoft has also added support for Slide Over and Split View features. Both these features will allow iPad owners to use Skype alongside Safari or any other app of their choice.
If you are an avid Skype user, you will be glad to know that you can now also initiate a chart right from Spotlight. Simply search for the contact you want to message, tap their name when it pops up in the search results, and start chatting.
Skype had also released v7.13 of their Mac app with support for OS X El Capitan late last month. The update added support for Split View along with making it easier to add new contacts from your address book.
