There are times when you want to quickly search for something on the web or read the definition of a word you’ve stumbled upon. Rather than going to Safari and searching, you can make use of a nifty new iOS 9 jailbreak tweak called TextSearchPro that speeds up the process.
The tweak takes advantage of Activator and FlipSwitch to allow you to search for anything from anywhere on your iPhone. When invoked, you’ll view a popup where you can type in the search term and either search for it on the web or use the built in iOS dictionary to look up for its definition.
There are two ways of invoking the tweak. You can do it either via the new FlipSwitch toggle added to Control Center or using an Activator gesture.
Once you install the tweak, head to its preferences pane in Settings to configure it. From there, you can choose the search engine to be used for searching the internet for the phrase you’ve entered or instead opt-in for defining words using the built in iOS dictionary.
If you choose to search the internet then the tweak will automatically open a browser with the results of the search. The browser contains the essential features needed such as navigating back and forward, bookmarking a webpage, opening the iOS share sheet and refreshing a page.
You can also have more than one search engine enabled at once. If you do, TextSearchPro will ask you to choose the search engine you’d like to use when entering a search term. It currently supports the following:
- Bing
- Yahoo
- Yahoo! Japan
- Baidu
Apart from using the FlipSwitch toggle for invoking the prompt, you can also make use of Activator. To do so, head to the Activator pane in Settings and assign a gesture to be used for invoking the tweak.
TextSearchPro offers a quick way of searching the internet no matter where you are on your iPhone. I like the fact that it allows you to either use Activator or FlipSwitch toggle for invoking the search popup.
