A few months ago, we posted an early preview of Velox 2 which allows users to interact with apps directly from the Home screen without launching them. Good news is that the tweak has now been released in Cydia and supports iOS 8.4.
If you haven’t heard of the tweak before, it allows you to interact with apps directly from the Home screen without having to open the application.
You can swipe up on an app icon to view a specialized tray that allows you to interact with it from the Home screen. For instance, swiping up on the Clock icon open’s a tray beneath it where you can turn on or off alarms. Similarly, the Settings app allows you to respring, reboot or lock your device. For apps that are not supported, the tray will display all the pending notifications when you swipe up its icon. The tweak also comes with a dedicated preferences pane where you can customize the look and feel of the specialized tray, choose the gesture which invokes Velox and switch between dark and light mode.
Velox 2 is a pretty neat tweak with a great concept that allows you to perform tasks much quicker. It provides access to a great deal of information and functionality of an app directly from the Home screen with a simple swipe up gesture. What’s more interesting about Velox 2 is that it allows other developers to expand the functionality available on the Home screen for other apps as well. They can create a separate plugin using Velox’s API and make it available to users from Cydia. We have already covered Velox 2 in a greater detail so make sure to read it if you’d like to find out more about the tweak.
Velox 2 is available for purchase from Cydia’s BigBoss repo for $1.99 and is compatible with devices running iOS 8. Sound off in the comments section below with your opinions on the tweak once you’ve given it a try.
