DJ Zane Lowe isn’t sure if Apple Music needs Beats 1

Zane Lowe and Beats 1
On June 30, alongside the launch of Apple Music, Beats 1 went live globally, bringing a digital radio station that anyone could listen to from a variety of locations across the world.
Now, just under three months since the radio station went live, one of the founding members of the station’s creation, Zane Lowe, has opened up about the current state of Beats 1, and whether or not Apple Music even needs it. Based on a report from The Telegraph, Lowe made the comment during the Radio Festival 2015 in London recently:
“We’re working this out, time will tell,” he said. “We’ve been going three months, I don’t have the answers. I hope that there’s a place for it… This is in progress, and over time we’ll find out exactly why [it’s needed].”
Lowe went on to add that he “isn’t sure” if Apple Music needs Beats 1.
Lowe was just one of the DJs that helped launch Beats 1, with the other two including Ebro Darden and Julie Adenuga. Now there are several different shows on Beats 1, including ones from artists Elton John, Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, and others. Recently,a report surfaced that suggested Apple could expand the Beats channels to encompass even more music genres.
Are you still listening to Beats 1?
