Boomerang from Instagram stitches burst photos into ‘mini videos’

Instagram Boomerang
One of the landmark features for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus is Live Photos, which taps into a photo to create a quick video from a quick series of photos.
While some would call it a gimmick, and others not, it would appear that one company wants to jump onto the similar bandwagon. By way of an announcement on Instagram’s blog, the hugely popular photo sharing social network has just announced Boomerang, a brand new standalone application that will allow users to take burst photos of a situation, and let Boomerang stitch them together to create a “mini video.”
That video will run on a loop, forward and backward, which is a bit different than Apple’s Live Photos, which have a definitive start and end point.
Instagram says you’ll be able to shoot in landscape or portrait while using Boomerang, and the mini videos that are created will automatically be saved to your device’s Camera Roll. The mini videos can be shared to Instagram, Facebook and other locations as well.
Boomerang from Instagram is available right now as a free download, and it’s available through the link below.
