Microsoft’s first flagship store takes design cues from Apple’s retail stores

Microsoft's first flagship store
Microsoft’s will be opening its first flagship retail store tomorrow in New York City. The gigantic store is  spread across five floors, and is located on Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street, just a few blocks away from Apple’s iconic glass cube store.
Microsoft seems to have taken plenty of inspiration from Apple’s retail store, and if you have been to latter’s retail stores before, you will get a very familiar feeling with Microsoft’s first-ever flagship store. The front of the store comprises of huge sheets of glass, just like those from Apple.
The store will be used by the Redmond based company to showcase a bevy of its hardware, including Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, Xbox One, and more. It will also have Lumia phones on showcase and hardware from other Windows OEMs. Interestingly, Microsoft is also showcasing HoloLens — its augmented-reality headset — at the store, though they are not available for sale. Additionally, the store will feature “Answer Desks” with experts behind them to help you with any Windows hardware that you might own.
Microsoft has also devoted one of the floors of the shop to Xbox, and it has even given floor space to Minecraft — the popular game that it bought for . The third floor of the store is also entirely dedicated to products from Dell. Interestingly, none of the products inside the store have any kind of security cables attached to them. Microsoft says that it has done away with cables so that visitors can use the devices like they would at their home and get a proper feel of them. The company has hired over 160 employees for its flagship retail store, who will be able to speak a combined of 19 different languages.
Microsoft is also welcoming iPhone (and iPad) users to the store. The company’s senior director of retail stores marketing, Kelly Soligon, said in an interview with NY Times that “if you bring your iPhone in here, I’d love to show you how to use Office on it.
