Apple’s upcoming store alongside the Chicago River shown off in new renders

Apple Store Chicago River
In typical fashion, images of what is expected to be Apple’s next physical retail store have found their way online, this time showing the next store meant for the state of Illinois in the United States.
The renders were initially published by the Chicago Tribune. According to the report, this new retail site will harken back to classic designs implemented by famous architect Frank Lloyd Write and his Prairie Style homes. The design is indeed ornate, with the store being located near Michigan Bridge. There will be a “grand flight of stairs” that will lead visitors to the walkway flanking the river proper, which will lead from street level.
On the street-side, there will be a large entry pavilion that is 14 feet high, and those who enter from N. Michigan Avenue will have to follow a large staircase, or take an elevator, to go down to the sales floor.

In the spot now, which measures in at 20,000 square feet, is an abandoned food court. The flagship store will have glass walls, and the roof will be constructed from high-strength carbon fiber. According to an Apple spokesperson speaking to the Tribune, Apple plans on beginning construction in the early part of 2016. As such, Apple is set to present its proposal for the upcoming store to the Chicago Plan Commission. However, according to the report, this is simply a formality at this point, as the new store has already been approved by the planning department.
What do you think of the design from the renders?
