Apple has sent out email to developers informing them that iTunes Connect will not accept any new apps and updates from Dec. 22-29. Every year, Apple shuts down iTunes Connect for a few days during the holiday season so this announcement from the company should not really come as a surprise.
While developers will not be able to submit their new apps or app updates for review, they can still schedule updates to go live between Dec. 22-29, though they will need to schedule it and get the necessary approval beforehand.
Apple also notes in its announcement that the App Store crossed 100 billion cumulative app downloads and revenues from the store have increased by 25% on a YoY basis.
Because of your incredible apps, the App Store crossed 100 billion cumulative downloads. Revenue from the App Store increased 25% year over year, and the number of transacting customers grew 18%, setting a new all-time record. We want to thank you for all your hard work and dedication to our platforms.
The holiday season is among the busiest season for the App Store, which also makes it a lucrative time for developers to entice new customers with major updates to their existing apps or launching new ones.
