Gadgets! Devices! Wireless! Virtual reality! 4K! There’s a lot of excitement with the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and here’s just a glimpse of things to get excited over.
Following yesterday’s roundup, we’ve found a few more devices that you might want to check out. There’s not a lot of Apple-related stuff on the final days of the trade show, so we’ve just put together a few noteworthy devices, gadgets, or systems.
First up:
- Apple CarPlay
Pioneer: Pioneer’s a name that’s pretty familiar with Apple’s CarPlay in-car system, so it’s no surprise that the company has unveiled brand new NEX-branded systems, with prices up to $1,400.00. They’ll all support CarPlay in the aftermarket units, so if you’ve already got a vehicle that you know isn’t getting any kind of manufacturer upgrade, this might be the easiest way to do it.
Pioneer still has the original head units, which launched last year, for sale and doesn’t articulate what the differences are in these new units. The new NEX systems will launch sometime in the Spring of this year.
HARMAN: Introduced a new aftermarket unit featuring CarPlay support, called the JBL Legend CP100, which features a 6.75-inch display. It’ll feature a rear USB input, steering wheel input ready, and a Push-to-Talk button for Siri controls.
- Razer Nabu Watch
There was actually quite a few wearables unveiled at CES this year, and many of them tried to say they weren’t a “smartwatch,” or something similar to the Apple Watch. One of those things is the Nabu Watch from Razer, which can indeed sync notifications, track health, and, well, show you the time. It has a design that harkens back to the Casio G-Shock, and that right there is reason enough to warrant some attention for Razer’s newest wearable. It has a pair of displays, and Razer says the primary one, the one that shows time, will last for months. However, the secondary screen needs to be charged every seven days or so.
Here’s what it looks like:
It’s certainly interesting to look at! It’ll retail for $149.99 when it launches later this month.
- Sony h.ear Wireless Headphones
- Out of the plethora of wireless headphones out there, Sony’s latest iteration, the “h.ear” wireless, stand out. For one, they’ve got digital noise canceling technology that will actually adapt to your surroundings, choosing the best possible profile for your current situation. Unfortunately, while the headphones were noteworthy, Sony didn’t say anything about when they’ll be available or how much they’ll cost. The running bet at the moment from Engadget, is probably up to $400. Maybe a good bet if you plan on ditching that 3.5mm headphone jack…
And, finally…
- Bragi Dash Wireless Earbuds
Wireless earbuds have been coming down the pipe for quite some time, and while different companies have made attempts at creating the perfect pair, it looks like the search continues. Bragi, may be on to something, though. The Dash in-ear wireless earbuds will begin shipping in January of this year, and have a price tag of $299.
The Dash offer a variety of features, like controls on each earbud, a personal assistant, 4GB of onboard storage, Bluetooth-connectivity to your smartphone, and even fitness tracking by way of a Bragi iOS app. They use Near Field Magnetic Induction to connect to one another, which helps with overall quality. And there’s an ability to use gestures, like shaking your head no, to dismiss a call.
And then there’s the feature to allow outside noise to pass through the headphones while you’re wearing them, even listening to music. It’s a quick way to take in a conversation without having to unequip the headphones altogether.
