The iOS 8.4 beta release schedule has been ticking along quite nicely, but a new report suggests that it should get wrapped up here shortly ahead of the public launch later this month.
According to a report published by BGR recently, Apple plans on releasing the Golden Master release for iOS 8.4 later today, June 22. With this GM release, which is typically release candidate software, it should be the final push for the public release scheduled for later this month. iOS 8.4’s official launch date is expected to be before June 30, which is the launch date of Apple Music.
Apple seeded the iOS 8.4 beta 4 on June 9, just one day after launching the iOS 9beta for developers and public beta testers. On top of that, the report also indicates that Apple will seed iOS 9 beta 2 on June 22 as well. However, this could get pushed back to June 29, too.
Apple Music has taken some criticism lately, especially from artist Taylor Swift, for eschewing payment to artists and labels during its three-month free trial. However, Apple publicly changed direction late on Sunday evening, confirming that it would indeed pay artists on a per-streaming basis during the three-month free trial period.
