iTunes U has been around for quite some time now, and as it has aged, the features within it have only gotten better, both for students and educators.
That trend continues today, as a new report from Re/code states that Apple will be releasing a brand new update to iTunes U, which aims to bring a plethora of new features into the fold. These new additions are meant to help students and educators better communicate with one another, for starters, and even aim to make homework easier to handle.
For starters, homework will get easier to submit, as students will be able to do so right from within the iPad app. Timestamps will be included, making sure that if an assignment is turned in on time (or late), the teacher will know with just a glance. Notifications are now included for homework as well, and the work both for students and educators. If a teacher has noticed that a student has not yet turned something in, a notification can be sent to that student to remind them. And, when a piece of homework is turned in, a notification is sent to the teacher to let them know.New discussion features are now baked into iTunes U as well, and teachers will now be able to use popular education materials downloaded from iTunes within the app.
The update is expected to arrive sometime today, June 25.
