Despite the fact it’s already been an interesting day with the launch of iOS 8.4 andApple Music, a new story has surfaced that reportedly sheds light on the upcoming “iPhone 6S.”
The report comes from 9to5Mac, and the images, along with the information published along with them, were procured from a “proven source familiar with Apple’s supply chain.” The images showcase a device that looks practically identical to the iPhone 6 that came before it, and suggest that, while there are some changes to be found, practically all of them have been saved for the internals, rather than the external.
For starters, the images and gathered information indicate that the iPhone 6S will have a body that’s the same as the iPhone 6, and that includes the same width/thickness. That’s contrary to a report that came to light earlier in June that suggested the iPhone 6S will be slightly thicker and bigger than the iPhone 6 due to the inclusion of a Force Touch-equipped display and necessary internals.
Moving to the back of the casing, it doesn’t appear that Apple will (or might not) utilize a dual-lens camera setup for the iPhone 6S. As the image just above showcases, the iPhone 6S will indeed use the same camera installation that the iPhone 6 has, with the dual-tone flash and microphone just to the side of the camera. And, despite the fact that Apple may have a way to hide antenna bands on the back of its future devices, it doesn’t look like that will begin with the iPhone 6s.
The images and information also show us that the iPhone 6S will have the same microphone, connectors and speakers as the iPhone 6, too.
Finally, the most noteworthy changes are inside the device, as noted in the initial report. Specifically, it would appear that the mounting plates for several different parts, including the device’s new logic board, have been altered. Unfortunately, the report does not go into detail on just what that actually means just yet.
Based on this report, it would seem to line up with past “S”-branded devices from Apple, with the company focusing on improving aspects internally, while keeping the physical design of the device the same.
What do you think? Is the iPhone 6S already on your radar?
