Despite recent rumors that promised the upcoming iPhone 6c will have a fancy new form factor made of metal, a supposed Foxconn source claims it will look exactly the same as the plastic iPhone 5c that was launching in 2013.
“Our sources have just revealed to us that the iPhone 6C will have a same design as the iPhone 5C,” reports GizmoChina. “The news comes directly from the factory sources, which means it could turn out to be true.”
The iPhone 6c is expected to be so close to the iPhone 5c in design that it will fit inside most iPhone 5c cases. If true, this rules out the possibility of a slender new form factor made of metal. Many imagined the iPhone 6c to be identical to the iPhone 6 but with a smaller screen, but it seems that won’t be the case.
But the problem with the iPhone 5c wasn’t its design. In fact, we all expected it to be a smash bit because of its colorful plastic back, which should have been popular with younger smartphone users. The problem was/is its internals.
While the iPhone 5c wasn’t much cheaper than the iPhone 5s, it had an older processor and camera, fewer storage options, and no Touch ID — which was just introduced with the iPhone 5s and proved incredibly popular with iPhone users.
As a result of those things, most decided to just pay the extra money for the much better device.
But even if the iPhone 6c is made of plastic, it could still be a winner among those who prefer smaller smartphones so long as it has the right specifications. We’ll have to wait and see what Apple’s iPhone event brings on September 9.
