Apple increases iPhone 6s display orders ahead of September 9 unveiling

Force Touch iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
Apple has increased its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus display orders from Japan Display ahead of their big unveiling on September 9, according to a new report. Thanks to the demand, Japan Display isn’t feeling the impact of China’s weakening smartphone market.
“They’re coming to us with more orders, saying ‘give us more, give us more’,” Japan Display CEO Mitsuru Homma told Reuters, referring to Apple only as the company’s “biggest client.” Homma added, “There’s difficult technology being used… But I think ramp-up is going well.”
It’s thought that “difficult technology” refers to Force Touch technology that Apple isexpected to introduce to the iPhone for the first time this fall. Some analysts have raised concerns that this will negatively impact mass production, but it appears that is going well so far.
Force Touch, which was first introduced with Apple Watch, will dramatically change the way we use our iPhones, but it won’t be the only significant upgrade coming with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Recent rumors have also promised Apple’s new A9 processor, and twice as much RAM.
Apple is also expected to add new 12-megapixel rear-facing cameras from Sony, which will be capable of recording super sharp 4K video, plus an improved front-facing camera with LED flash for better selfies.
On the back of Homma’s comments, shares in Japan Display rose as much as 5.5 percent on Thursday and finished up 3.8 percent.
