According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the upcoming iMac will have a “much better display” thanks to Apple using a LED phosphor material called KSF.
The new phosphor material will help in boosting the color saturation of the displays on the new iMacs. Additionally, the analyst states that the new iMacs will come with faster processors from Intel, though he did not mention if Apple is going to use the chip maker’s latest Skylake processors or not. With the iMacs coming with a 5K resolution display, any boost in CPU and GPU performance will always be a welcome addition to the PC.
Kuo also estimates that Apple will ship 1 million units of iMac this quarter — a 100 percent sequential growth from the quarter ending June. The boost in sales will come from the new iMacs, as well as promotional schemes like Back to School from Apple.
It is likely that Apple will unveil the new iMacs at its September 9 event next week. The company had last updated its iMac lineup with the 27-inch iMac getting a pixel packed 5K resolution display last year.
