Apple Pay transaction limit rises to £30 in the U.K.

Apple-Pay-UK
The Apple Pay transaction limit has been increased to £30 for users in the United Kingdom. The move comes less than two months after the service made its debut in Great Britain, but there are some limitations.
The new limit applies not only to Apple Pay, but all contactless payment solutions in the U.K. — including contactless debit and credit cards — and covers the average supermarket spend of £25, according to the U.K. Cards Association.
“The move follows a huge rise in the number of people using contactless cards in the UK,” reports BBC News“Transactions for the first half of this year totalled £2.5bn, already higher than the £2.32bn spent in 2014.”
Some retailers, including Apple, already accept Apple Pay for all transactions, regardless of the amount spent. But now others can increase their limit from £20 to £30. To do so, however, retailers will need to update their terminals, and it’s unclear how long that might take.
