Despite reports suggesting that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus launch in India was lukewarm, apparently the future availability of the new devices has had quite the opposite effect in South Korea.
According to reports published by Yonhap, and surfaced by Apple Insider, the carrier KT apparently received 10,000 orders within just one minute of pre-orders going live. Within ten minutes, and when KT was forced to close down orders completely, the company had received 50,000 pre-orders. The company LG Uplus actually closed down orders within five minutes of them going live, but exact numbers weren’t provided.
SK Telecom, on the other hand, left pre-orders open for a bit longer at 30 minutes. While the carrier wouldn’t divulge how many pre-orders it had taken in within that timeframe, the original report states that market watchers believe it could have been as many as 50,000.
Pre-orders were actually meant to kickoff in the region last week, but had been delayed for unknown reasons. As far as a release date goes, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will launch in South Korea on Friday, October 23.
