Earlier today, Apple released the third beta of tvOS 9.2 for the Apple TV 4. The latest beta introduces a couple of new features to Apple’s latest generation streaming media player: App Store search support via Siri and dictation.
With Siri on the Apple TV 4 now supporting App Store search, Apple TV 4 owners can search for apps and games using voice input thereby completely skipping the tedious process of manually entering app or game name in the search bar of the tvOS App Store.
The second new feature — dictation — allows Apple TV 4 owners to dictate text by holding down the Siri button on the remote. Since the Apple TV 4 is primarily controlled via a remote, the process of entering text into it is very arduous and frustrating. By adding dictation support to the OS, Apple will make text input significantly easier on the device.
Other new features that have been discovered in all the tvOS 9.2 beta so far include support for Bluetooth keyboard,iCloud Photo Library with Live Photos, folder support in the home screen, new APIs for developers and more. tvOS 9.2 is only available for developers and advanced users right now, with a public rollout expected to occur sometime in March.
