In the latest beta release of OS X El Capitan, Apple has disabled the Dashboard feature of the OS by default. The company had similarly disabled the feature in OS X Yosemite.
Dashboard allows OS X users to have handy widgets that are placed in a separate screen for quick access. However, Dashboard has not received any major new functionality improvement since the last 4 years, it makes sense for Apple to remove the feature altogether from the OS rather than keeping it around. However, since a small bunch of OS X users might still be using this feature, the company’s move of disabling the feature by default makes more sense and is probably the best.
If you are running the seventh beta of OS X El Capitan on your Mac and use Dashboard frequently, you can enable the feature by going into System Preferences -> Mission Control and then selecting the “As Space” option from the ‘Dashboard’ drop down menu.
