There have already been plenty of leaks regarding the next iPhone, and the latest images allegedly showcase the iPhone 6s‘ display panel in all of its glory.
As revealed in a new report from MacRumors, this display panel, which is allegedly for the next-generation iPhone, is slightly thicker and just a tad heavier than the current model’s display panel, according to unnamed sources. That would line up with earlier reports that suggest the new iPhone will be at least 0.2mm thicker than the current iPhone 6, which is also said to help make it a bit less bendable, too.
Another interesting detail in the display panel is a mysterious chip that’s been placed inside. As the original report remarks, the chip can be found in a cutout in the metal shielding behind the display. And, as if there needed to be any more unofficial confirmations of this feature, the unnamed sources say that this chip does indeed have everything to do with Force Touch being on board the next iPhone.
The report states that this particular display panel weighs in at 51.2 grams, and that doesn’t include the front-facing camera or its corresponding bracket. To compare, the iPhone 6 panel, including the camera and bracket, weighed in at 49.4 grams. It will be interesting to see if Apple even mentions the weight difference, and how the back panel, which is said to be about 2 grams lighter than the iPhone 6 shell, will spread out that weight.
With these key differences in place, and with the inclusion of Force Touch, are you looking forward to the next iPhone?
