Lightroom for iPhone and iPad is now free to use, no subscription necessary

Lightroom for Mobile iOS
When Adobe went to the cloud, one of those apps tied to it was Lightroom for Mobile, but the company has decided to change its tune quite a bit.
Recently, Adobe announced that Lightroom for Mobile for iOS is now completely free. That means that users won’t get hitched into an automatic 30-day free trial, or have to subscribe to Adobe’s Creative Cloud, or even need the desktop app to take full advantage of the app’s photo editing tools. Now, moving forward, Lightroom for Mobile is completely free to use as a local editor on the iOS device of your choice.
The kicker is that local part. Lightroom for iOS can indeed be used for free, but only as an on-device photo editor, without any ties to Adobe’s Creative Cloud. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though, as Adobe has infused the app with plenty of new features and tweaks, which includes a new camera function which will let users take a photo directly from within the app. There’s a new Target Adjustment Tool in the Color/B&W toolset, and this will let you adjust hue, saturation, and brightness on the fly.
If you want to expand the functionality of the photo editing tools, and connect it to the cloud so they’re accessible there, you’ll have to subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud. Otherwise, if you just want another great photo editing tool on your iPhone or iPad, Lightroom is now an option without any mandatory extra costs.
