One of the bigger entities missing from Apple Pay has been Starbucks, much to the chagrin of coffee drinkers out there. But that’s changing soon.
Speaking to those in attendance at Code/Mobile, Jennifer Bailey, the head of Apple Pay, broke the news that Starbucks would begin accepting Apple Pay as a means to buy that caffeine in some select sites across the United States. However, it won’t be until “sometime in 2016” that the full rollout will begin, and Starbucks will accept Apple Pay at all of its locations.
For those that use Starbucks’s loyalty program, it’s unclear right now whether or not using Apple Pay will negate those points or not. Starbucks has had Apple Pay integrated into its iOS app for some time now.
Bailey also confirmed that Apple Pay would soon be accepted at other locations, too, including the fast food chain KFC, and the restaurant Chili’s.
“[KFC] has a special place in my heart, it was my first job ever,” Bailey said. “We’re seeing a lot of support for quick service restaurants with a need for fast payment.”
Have you tried out Apple Pay? Are you excited to hear it’s coming to Starbucks soon?
