Twitter for Mac exists, but sometimes it can get lost in time as far as updates go. It’s only been updated twice since 2014, for example. But apparently that’s changing at some point in the future.
As revealed by TechCrunch, the official Twitter app for Mac is getting a huge and feature-focused overhaul. Twitter officially announced plans for a redesign of the app, and it will finally add new features to the app that have been long available in other third-party apps (or on Twitter.com). That includes in-line Vine videos, the ability to send Direct Messages to groups, send photos in Direct Messages, GIF playback and more.
The app will also support Dark Mode, feature notifications through the OS X Notification Center, and it will be optimized for OS X El Capitan for good measure.
As far as a launch date? Nothing official yet, but Twitter says the update is planned to arrive in the coming months.
