One of the tweaks that I have been eagerly waiting for ever since the release of iOS 9 jailbreak is 3D Touch support for Cydia. Fortunately, the wait seems to be over with a new tweak called Tactful that brings 3D Touch shortcut menu to Cydia and allows you to peek into Cydia packages from within the app.
With Tactful installed, when you perform 3D Touch gesture on Cydia’s app icon, a menu is revealed which consists of four shortcuts that allow you to do the following:
- Refresh repos
- Add a new repo
- View all the recently installed tweaks
- Search for a package in Cydia
All of these shortcuts enable you to use Cydia more efficiently and perform certain tasks much quicker. Instead of performing various steps to get a task done, you can now take advantage of 3D Touch gesture to get your task done more quickly.
Once you tap on any of these shortcuts, it takes you to Cydia where the corresponding action is performed. For instance, when you tap on add a new repo, you’ll be taken directly to the Sources tab of Cydia and displays a pop up box where you can type in the URL of the new source.
Apart from these, Tactful offers another interesting feature. From within the Cydia app, you can also peek into packages and view their description or install/uninstall them with a swipe up gesture. Doing a deeper press takes you entirely into the package’s description page.
Tactful is a very useful and must-have tweak if you’d like to save time and use Cydia more efficiently. Keep in mind that you can also get the shortcut menu on devices that don’t support 3D Touch by making use of tweaks such as RevealMenu.
If you’re interesting to give this tweak a try, Tactful is available as a free package on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. Let us know what you think about the tweak in the comments section below.
