“There are times when you really need connectivity on-the-go and you don’t want to plan your travel around Wi-Fi hotspots,” said Emir Aboulhosn, CEO and Founder of Otono Networks Inc. “That’s why we offer a global LTE roaming service with convenient short-term data plans to meet any travelers’ needs, whether they need to catch-up on email in the car after landing or get directions to their next meeting.”
The plans, however, are pretty expensive with 15MB of LTE data costing $0.99 per hour. The pricing varies from country to country though, and for every new country you visit, you will have to subscribe to a new data plan specific to that region.
Apple SIM comes pre-installed on the LTE variant of the iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2 and the iPad Pro. It can also be purchased separately in 13 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the United States.
Earlier this year, Apple had partnered with GigSky to extend the coverage of Apple SIM to over 90 countries. Compared to GigSky, AlwaysOnline provides even shorter data plans to users.
