Apple and IBM today announced that under their MobileFirst iOS partnership, they have created more than 100 apps for their customers. While the companies did not reveal the full list of their clients, they did mention that these apps are being used in 14 different industries and by over 65 different professionals.
A small list of companies that use apps developed by Apple and IBM under their MobileFirst iOS partnership include Coca-Cola, Japan Post and Scandinavian Airlines.
“Our apps — which currently represent an exclusive level of business value — are evolving to deliver cognitive capability that refines insights to the most relevant information, enhancing the quality of decision making,” said Fred Balboni, general manager of the Apple partnership with IBM. “Marrying the simplicity of Apple’s product design with IBM’s unmatched security, analytic and cognitive expertise is the leading edge of mobile-led business transformation.”
For 2016, Apple and IBM plan on adding more apps to their roster while also working on improving the user experience and value of their existing apps. Additionally, IBM is already working on optimising its existing apps to take advantage of the larger screen offered by the iPad Pro and the new multi-tasking capabilities introduced by Apple in iOS 9. The company is also working on integrating Watson, a cognitive system used for trend prediction, into its MobileFirst iOS apps.
