Apple hasn’t contacted indie music publishers for streaming rights yet

Apple Music iOS 9
Apple Music is going to have a lot of music tucked inside of its digital library, but according to a new report, it may take a bit longer to land some listeners’ favorite indie artists.
According to a report recently published by Billboard, Apple has yet to contact any indie music publishers out in the wild just yet, which is leading many of them to believe that Apple will simply roll out a bulk email to the masses, with a contract agreement as the main course.
Apple Music’s rates for indie publishers is reportedly higher than what it pays them now for iTunes Match and iTunes Radio, which are 12% and 10%, respectively. For Music, though, that rate will be bumped up to 13.5%. In total, Apple’s revenue sharing is upwards of 71 percent, which makes it just slightly above the industry standard. Are you looking forward to trying Apple Music when it launches on June 30?
