Apple removes MFi licensing from Monster in light of Beats lawsuit

BeatsByDreGiveaway
In a time before Apple owned beats, Beats by Dr. Dre, the popular headphone lineup, was made in part by audio and video equipment maker Monster.
Leading up to 2012, Monster and the Beats brand were synonymous with one another, but in that year the contract between the two companies timed out. After that, it would be widely known that Apple would acquire Beats Electronics for a large sum, and Monster has decided to sue Apple (Beats Music). The company filed their lawsuit against Beats Music back in January of this year, and now, according to Monster, there’s even more for the company to be upset about.
In a report recently published by The Wall Street Journal, Monster says that Apple has removed Monster’s Made For iPhone (MFi) certification, which allows companies to advertise their product’s compatibility with Apple’s licensed technologies. Monster says the removal happened due to the legal issues between the companies, despite the fact that Apple has continued to sell other company products, like Samsung’s amidst a flurry of other legal proceedings. The report indicates that the relationship between Apple and Monster officially came to an end on May 5 of this year, with Apple’s lawyers letting Monster known that the relationship was essentially harmful, and that neither one benefitted the other anymore.
Monster’s current agreement with Apple expires in September, and the company has upwards of 900 products. By that month, they’ll need to rework how it manufactures its products.
