iPod is still more popular than Apple Watch in internet searches

Apple Watch may appear to be one of the hottest Apple products right now, but is it as popular as it seems? Not according to Google Trends, which shows that there is still more interest in the iPod — a device that’s slowly dying out, according to the sale figures.
Pacific Crest analyst Andy Hargreaves grabbed Google Trends figures from March 16 to June 8 to see which was more popular among internet searches — iPad, iPod, or Apple Watch. Unsurprisingly, the iPad was way out on top, despite slow growth in recent years.
But while the iPod may have gone without a refresh in almost two years, it’s still seemingly more popular than the brand new Apple Watch on average. Apple Watch searches did peak when the device was first made available to pre-order — and then again when it launched.
But apart from those two peaks, Google searches for “Apple Watch” have been behind those for “iPod.”

“After strong initial demand, follow-on interest in Apple Watch appears mediocre,” Hargreaves told BusinessInsiderHowever, he still expects Apple to ship 11 million Watches by the end of September, which would be a pretty incredible figure for a wearable device.
Hargreaves isn’t so confident that Apple will reach its own estimate of 24 million sales in 2016, however, and he said “confidence is declining” in the company’s first smartwatch — likely due to the reviews, which have been pretty mixed so far.
Many of the complaints made in those reviews, however — such as slow loading times and a lack of support for native apps — will be fixed in watchOS 2, which rolls out this fall.
