Apple today announced that its Apple Maps vehicles will start collecting ‘Street View’ data in France and Sweden from August.
Vehicles from the company will be driving through the heavily populated regions of the cities in Sweden and France throughout August to collect street level information, including clicking pictures of major businesses and storefronts, for Apple Maps.
In addition to Sweden and France, Apple will also be driving its vehicles through 13 different U.S. states from this month to collect relevant street level data. The list of new cities include Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Ohio, South Dakota, and more.
Mysterious Apple Maps vehicles were first spotted earlier this year and led many to speculate that Apple is collecting data for its upcoming self-driving car through these vehicles. However, Apple itself later confirmed that it is driving vehiclesaround the world to collect data and improve its mapping service.
The different areas that Apple’s Maps vehicle will be driving through can be found over atthe company’s website.
